Kissena Velodrome was a busy place on September 9th and 10th and the weather cooperated this year providing perfect conditions for a weekend of racing. There were over 100 registrations in which included two separate fields for Women’s (Cat 4 and Cat1234), two Masters (40+ and 55+), Cat 1234 and two senior men’s fields (Cat 4 and Cat 123). The race schedule was packed with both Sprint and Endurance Omniums as well as Team Pursuits and Team Sprints.
This year also included Keirin races and we were fortunate enough to have an authentic Belgian Derney thanks to Sam Zara of USA Derny. Notable was that this was one of the largest and most competitive Men’s Cat 123 fields that Kissena has seen in years.
The New York Velodrome Association would like to congratulate our 2017 Omnium State Champions: Women’s Cat 123 Endurance Omnium – Rebecca Book; Women’s Cat 123 Sprint Omnium – Christine D’Ercole; Women’s Cat 4 Endurance Omnium – Leah Goldberg; Men’s Cat 123 Endurance Omnium – Scott Savory; Men’s Cat 123 Sprint Omnium – Mark Wagner; Men’s Cat 4 Endurance Omnium Jonathan Trevett; Master’s 40+ Endurance Omnium – JP Partland; Master’s 55+ Endurance Omnium – Mike Wilpizeski; and Masters 40+ Sprint Omnium – Michael Mahesh
